…And you are invited! On September 13th Kuna will be celebrating its 150th birthday. To celebrate the City of Kuna is planning an event in support of Mayor Nelson’s “Year of the Kuna Kid Campaign.” This party is for you Kuna!
Among the bazillion activities planned for everyone is an ice cream social with the sounds of the Community Choir, a morning hike to explore the Greenbelt, a car smash, Rockwall, bouncy house, fireworks, square dance, a sprint car show and a movie in the park…just to name a few. Here are some of the events you can pre-register for:
Chili Cook-Off: Same day registration begins at 12:30 at Bernie Fischer Park or you can pre-register by calling Bob Bachman at 577-8794. Entry fee is $15.00. Cash prizes will be based on the number of participants. Setup starts at 1 pm on party day. Come try your hand at having the BEST chili in Kuna!!
Frisbee Golf Tournament: Same day registration begins at 11 am at the Kuna Visitor’s Center or you may pre-register by contacting Bobbi Prentice at 936-8769. 3-person teams with a $15 entry fee per team. This event is open to all ages. Cash prizes will be based on the number of participants. Come try out Kuna’s new Frisbee Golf Course.
Red Cross Blood Drive: There will be a blood drive in Kuna on September 13th at the Senior Center. You may pre-register by clicking on the link attached to the Kuna 150th Birthday Celebration Facebook Page or the City of Kuna Parks and Rec Page. Please come down and support this event. You never know when a loved one might need it.
Duck Calling Contest: Same day registration begins at 12:30 at Bernie Fischer Park. Contest starts at 1 pm. Prizes will be awarded. Open to all ages. Let’s see how many ducks we can call in standing in the middle of Kuna.
Photo Contest: This contest is open to everyone but the photos must be of and around Kuna. Pictures will be at least 5×7 in size and brought mounted to the event for registration at 11 am at Bernie Fischer Park. The judging will commence at noon. All photos will remain on display until the activity portion of the event ends at 4 pm at which time they can be picked up. Ribbons will be awarded in all categories.
