The Kuna City Council met Tuesday night at their regularly scheduled bimonthly meeting. The council approved the step and grade policy for the city clerk’s office detailing promotion levels and pay grades for staff.
The tentative budget for fiscal year ending 2015 was approved. A public hearing was set for September 2, at 7 p.m. at Kuna City Hall to review and accept public comments on the budget. (See page 7 for the budget hearing notice and figures.)
A public hearing was set for September 16 at 7 p.m. at Kuna City Hall to discuss the proposed increases for solid waste collection services by J&M Sanitation. The proposed increases in trash utilities would go up approximately eight percent across the board for residential and commercial trash service.
An ordinance was unanimously approved fixing an error in a 2006 ordinance which failed to include a specific parcel for annexation by the city. The ordinance corrected the original and the parcel was included along with establishing an R-6 zoning classification.
An ordinance was passed that allowed a liquor license holder to use their license to obtain a permit to sell alcohol at an event that is contiguous to the original business. Previously, if a business wanted to hold an event in their parking lot and sell alcohol, the business would have had to borrow someone else’s license to qualify for the catering permit. This ordinance allows them to use their own.
An ordinance was discussed and tabled requiring all vendors operating within city limits to obtain a mobile vendor’s license. Additionally, any vendors operating within 750 feet of a special event would need to obtain a permit from that event to vend. At discussion was a snow cone shack that set up across the street from Bernie Fisher Park during Kuna Days that did not pay the vendor booth fees to Kuna Days. In discussion was clarification of the language that made it apply to all vendors both on private and public property. Of concern were home based businesses that may open for a sale having to now need a license.
