If you are a grandparent and want a dose of reality, take your little grandchild to the Meridian pool and sit IN the kiddie pool (1 1/2 feet deep), IN your bathing suit. Yep, that is what I did! Now look down at your stomach – reality: gravity has definitely made changes! The next bit of reality is getting back on your feet, especially if you have artificial knees like I do. After numerous tries, I made it – briefly! With the water moving around me, I got dizzy and ended up back on my backside. Here I go again! Numerous tries did not get me back to my feet!
Reality: my balance isn’t like it use to be. When I looked over at the young life guard, who was sitting on the edge of the pool, I realized he had been watching me. Bless his heart, he wasn’t laughing. When he asked if he could help me, I jumped on his offer. Reality #3 – I’m getting older! Reality #4 – my muscles are not as strong as they use to be! BUT – I still feel young!!!!
After that experience, my little granddaughter and I stayed in the four feet deep section and had lots of fun! Will definitely do that again!
